How to tame it
Do not use ordinary tranquilizer weapons. The Palaeoctopus uses a special torpor/taming sequence involving Black Pearls, Narcotic and Bio Toxin. Complete its encounter until it becomes unconscious, then feed Black Pearls for the best effectiveness.
